If you are travelling alone, or wish to join a group for a Thai Cookery course, then see our choice of programs at the Green Mango Cookery School, below. The cost of the course is US$28/person and payment is made the day before the course. We require that you be in Chiang Mai the day before the course starts and reconfirm your booking by 6pm.

You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel and taken to the school. You will then be brought back in the afternoon. Time is approx 0930-1600.

Course A  (Mondays & Thursdays)

1. Market visit
2. Cooking and preparation of sticky rice and steamed rice
3.  Somtam (Papaya Salad)
4. Tom Kha Gai (Chicken in coconut milk soup)
5. Khao Pad Phak sai Kai (Fried Rice with vegetables & egg) 
6. Nam Phrik Ong (Northern Style Spicy minced pork)
7. Steamed local vegetables to be eaten with Nam Phrik
8.  Gluay Nam Cheum (Fried Bananas with coconut toffee and icecream)
9. Tasting Thai desserts

 

 

 

 

 


Course B  (Tuesdays & Fridays)

1. Market visit
2. Cooking and preparation of sticky rice and steamed rice

Porpia Tod (Spring Rolls)
4. Tom Yam Gung (Hot & Spicy Soup with Prawns)
5. Making Panaeng curry paste
6. Panaeng Mu (Pork in Panaeng curry)
7. Gai Pad Metmamuangheemapan (Chicken and cashew nuts)
8. Khao Neeo Mamuang (Sticky Rice with Ripe Mango)
9. Tasting Thai fruits in season

 


 

 


Course C  (Wednesdays & Saturdays)

1. Market visit
2. Cooking and preparation of sticky rice and steamed rice
3. Green Curry Paste - making it the traditional way.

Gaeng Keow Wan Gai (Green Curry with Chicken)

Pad Thai (Fried Noodles Thai Style)
6. Mu Pad Bai Gaprow (Pork with Basil Leaves)

7. Shrimp Salad
8. Gluay Buat Chee (Bananas in coconut milk)

Course D  (Sundays)

1. Market visit

3. Red Curry Paste - making it the traditional way.

4. Gaeng Phed Gai (Chicken in red curry)
5. Pad Preeo Wan Phak (Sweet and Sour Mixed Vegetables)
6. Mu Pad Khing (Fried pork with ginger)
7. Tod Man Pla (Deep Fried Fish Cakes)
8. Khao Neow Dam (Black Sticky Rice Pudding)
9. Tasting Thai fruits in season


 

 

 


 
If you are vegetarian: there are vegetarian substitutes for meat in all the dishes.

Included in the price are:
   
A trip to the market to learn about Thai ingredients.
   A tour around the farm to learn about and pick the produce.
   The secrets of cooking rice.
   A traditional Thai lunch with fruit in season.
   A recipe book to keep as a souvenir and refer to when you get back home.
   A welcome drink plus free tea, coffee & Herbal Drinks!.
   An introduction to the making of curry paste.
   The cooking and preparing of all the selected dishes in your course.

You Need to Bring
A small notebook and pen to note down any details.
An empty stomach!!!

Price = US$28/person (this is the price per day/course for one person), it includes transport from your hotel to the
                                                    school and back in the afternoon (only applies to hotels in the city area).
